OUR LAND!!!!

My boyfriend extraordinaire and I recently bought a beautiful piece of land with a maple grove and a sugar shack “Cabane a Sucre” as we say here in Quebec! We will be making our first batch of maple syrup and product this season coming! We are planning to build a home in the next year, but in the mean time we have to spruce up this little shack enough to be comfortable while we build. So…. I have started with some curtains! a bit of a woman’s touch if you will! Also since there is nothing to do in the evenings and it gets so dark so quickly I have been been knitting away …… Voila! Its a pumpkin hat!! A pattern I received from Ravelry, a fantastic knitting a crochet community online.  Mister Emilien is the lucky recipent!! Looking good mister!

Katy’s Birthday Bag!!

Katy’s Birthday Bag!!

I was invited to go over to my good friend Annie’s place in Hudson to have a crafting day and I needed to make Katy something for her upcoming birthday and noticed her dire need for a proper sturdy bag! Something she could carry everything in. So I made it out of denim and made sturdy seams. A funny fact, both her and Annie had there first born children a week apart and I had the honor of attending both their births as their doula!

Knitting Extravaganza!!!

Life has swept me up in a different direction. It has been awhile since my last post. I was happily working, doing my birth and postpartum doula training and crafting when the opportunity to join a equestrian circus show fell into my lap! Naturally being on tour requires you to travel light and as a compulsive crafter I had to do something that was portable! Knitting was the answer.

Sesch and Colin’s Diaper bag!

Posted on

Working on this bag was an amazing practice in creativity and ultimately making something that is very functional. Sesch is on her way to becoming a mother and I had the honor of attending her belly blessing with a group of amazing women. I can’t express how grateful I am to be so well surround and that traditions like this are still alive in our birth culture even if on such a small level. The bird inside was her blessing from me, her inner bird, free and powerful.

A fun project to create fairy costumes for the “Great Cloth Diaper Change”

Posted on

This was a great project, It was part of a giant around the world goal to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most cloth diapers changed at one time!  It took place at Bummis, a local green baby boutique dedicated to cloth diapering. It was also really fun to work with crinoline, It adds that little something extra! I was given  a great suggestion to make small ones for little girls by the photographer Natacha Sibler who took this photo. I think I will do this.
